About Caries Prevention Services
Our priority is to take care of your smile before problems arise. With a holistic approach, we offer you:
- Early diagnosis: to detect incipient demineralisation.
- Application of hydroxyapatite and sealants: these strengthen the enamel and seal fissures, preventing plaque build-up and the onset of caries.
- Nutritional advice: we analyse your sugar and nutrient intake, proposing alternatives and supplements that strengthen tooth resistance.
- Hygiene education: we demonstrate brushing techniques, use of dental floss and irrigators, adapted to your anatomy and lifestyle.
- Regular check-up plan: we design your cleaning and check-up schedule, tailored to your risk of caries and overall oral health.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does dental sealant hurt?
No. The application is quick and does not require anaesthesia: we clean and dry the dental fissure, then apply the liquid sealant, which hardens with light.
Is it effective on all teeth?
It is especially recommended for molars and premolars, where fissures retain more plaque. For other teeth, good hygiene and a healthy diet are sufficient.
Do dietary changes really help?
Yes. Reducing sugars and fermentable carbohydrates and increasing calcium, phosphorus and vitamins strengthens enamel and prevents cavities.
When should I change my toothbrush?
I recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months or sooner if the bristles start to bend or wear down. It is also a good idea to replace it after having a cold or any oral infection to avoid re-infecting yourself with bacteria. A toothbrush in good condition allows you to clean effectively without damaging your enamel or gums.
